Short Pastry (NEW)

Lovely Meal

This pastry only takes 10 minutes to prepare, and can be stored in the fridge until ready to use.

Short Pastry is made by 'rubbing in' the fat (shortening) with flour to the consistency of breadcrumbs.

It can be used as the base for Quiche, Empanadillas, or any kind of pie or pastie.



Preparation Time:  10 Minutes
Cooking Time: None

 1 1/2 cups white flour  1/2 teasp salt
 2 tblsp cooking oil  Water
 1/4 cup margarine  


Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Rub in the margarine between your finger until you have a consistency of breadcrumbs.

Stir in the oil and a little water, and mix until a firm dough has been formed. Wrap in clingfilm and refrigerate for an hour - this makes rolling out much easier.
